In 1995, Bionaturae was introduced as one of the first organic Italian food brands in the American market when Carla Bartolucci and Rodolfo Viola fully committed to their passion for organic foods and their personal connections to traditional Italian cooking.

Carla had recently lost her parents to cancer, which led her to become interested in the emerging market for organic foods, and Rodolfo had studied organic agriculture in college in Bologna, Italy, not far from his hometown and where he and Carla met.

Bionaturae was quickly embraced by the American consumer as the premier brand of authentic, organic foods direct from Italy, and has remained a family-owned company, with a heartfelt devotion to quality and tradition. Our mission at bionaturae is to create organic foods that will bring the family together and give you a true taste of genuine Italian cooking.

When Carla and Rodolfo had children and quickly learned their family shared an intolerance to modified wheat in America, they were inspired to launch a separate allergen-friendly line of products in 2010. We invite you to explore our other brand, jovial foods, where you can find flour, pasta, cookies and crackers made with einkorn, an ancient grain that remains unmodified and therefore is more easy-to-digest than modern wheat, as well as gluten-free products from Italy.
